Having curly hair can feel like trying to tame a beast at times. Therefore, I am convinced my hair is bipolar. Some days those precious curls will cooperate and stunt hard! while other days? Eh, not so much. Since spring semester started, I haven’t had much down time. I’m all over the place. Because of this, I’ve been taking the easy way out by using curl creams and sprays to seal in moisture, control frizz and have my curls looking half decent. This review was long overdue!
I’m a Wash-n-Go kind of gal! I rarely wear my hair stretched. I don’t mind the shrinkage, it’s actually less maintenance! My normal routine is to wash, condition, and style (preferably with a denman brush to get the best curl definition.) I’ve been dying to wash my hair this week and I finally got the chance to! 😀 Ironically, a brand representative for a company called Jessicurl reached out to me and was kind enough to send me their entire Rich and Radiant Collection.
They were even nice enough to also send a step-by-step instruction booklet and card!
According to their website:
Jessicurl’s Rich & Radiant collection is best suited for thicker, drier hair that is looking for curl enhancement and moisture. From cleansing to conditioning to styling, this collection will give your thick curls all the moisture and bounciness they can handle. A handy step-by-step instructional insert is included to help you figure out the best techniques for frizz free curls.
What I found most unique about Jessicurl’s products was that their products come on 2 scents: Island Fantasy and Citrus Lavender in any product that you’re interested in buying. They also give you the option to order products that contain no scent as well. This is cool if you have a sensitive nose and aren’t crazy about fragrance in your hair products. Out of all scent options, I chose the Island Fantasy scent.
Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo ($16.95 for 8 oz.)
“A gentle, moisturizing cleanser that doesn’t create tons of lather but will clean your hair and leave it quite soft. It’s best suited for thicker, drier hair types that need more moisture, and is also safe for color treated hair.”
MY REVIEW: When using this shampoo I would’ve never imagined how light this was! The Hair Cleansing Cream was super duper light. Because of it not having much lather, I felt the need to use a little more because I wanted to make sure that all of my hair was receiving the love. I wasn’t crazy about the shampoo because of this exact reason. I prefer for my shampoos to lather up because I feel like I don’t have to use much. My hair felt cleansed and soft to the touch!
Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner ($16.95 for 8 oz.)
“It has shea butter (hence the adorable name), jojoba oil, avocado oil and tons of lovely herbs and spices that are all great for hair and scalp. Together they combine to make a thick, moisturizing conditioner that isn’t too heavy and not at all greasy.”
MY REVIEW: What made this conditioner so different was the fact that it wasn’t slippery. I’m used to conditioners having that extra slippery feel to it; the Too Shea conditioner felt like more of a moisturizer and curl cream than it did as a conditioner. My hair felt soft, manageable, in addition I noticed my curls were more defined after I used this.
Confident Coils Styling Solution ($16.95 for 8 oz.)
“It’s a creamy styling product with a consistency thin enough to make it easy to distribute through even the tightest, kinkiest curls. It creates amazing definition and provides excellent humidity protection.”
MY REVIEW: Boy oh boy! My curls were defined to the point of no return. However, the amount of shrinkage I received from using this was just unbearable lol. I remember my mom asking me if I cut my hair!
Rockin’ Ringlets Styling Potion ($16.95 for 8 0z.)
“Rockin’ Ringlets is a powerful curl enhancer that will boost waves into curls and make your ringlets rock! It has a thin consistency and light-to-medium hold so it won’t give you ramen noodle hair, but helps control frizz all while allowing your hair to stay touchably soft.”
This reminds me alot of my As-I-Am leave in! Great for a quick wash and go!
Deep Conditioning Treatment ($16.95 for 8 oz.)
” It’s thick, it’s rich, it’s moisturizing, it doesn’t build up – it really is the ideal formula for restoring moisture to dry curly hair.”
This conditioner detangles my hair really well! Made my curls pop and felt very soft. However, It wasn’t very moisturizing for my hair. Afterwards it felt dry, which was weird! I don’t know if it had to do with the harsh winter air. I had to seal in my moisture afterwards with jojoba oil.
Awe Inspiraling Spray ($16.95 for 8 oz.)
“It doesn’t have any ingredients that provide hold, rather, it works to rejuvinate the styling products you already have in your hair. As a result, you’ll get the revitalized curls you seek without adding a sticky, producty feel.”
Very lightweight and great for frizz! It didn’t weigh my hair down at all! All you have to do is spray lightly and crunch for defined curls. It doesn’t leave my hair hard either which is a plus.
