I noticed some makeup artists on instagram had this in their kit. (I always like to snoop and see what other artists use – especially celebrity makeup artists! I like to implement new technique I come across and try with new or interesting products) My first initial impression was that they used the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm for men’s grooming! But no, they actually use it as a makeup primer. shout out to Nikki Tutorials for starting a mini trend lol. Trust me, this confused me as much as it confuses you reading this. So I decided to put this theory to the test!
Nivea Men Post Shave Balm
I purchased the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm on a recent trip to Walgreens. I was with Mama Villain so it was pretty hard to avoid the questions she had about me using men’s skincare products. LOL! She was like ‘Chrissie you can’t read??? It says it’s for MEN!’ LMAO! But when I explained to her why I was buying it, she digressed. (Some trend started by Nikki Tutorials)
Fast forward..I used it underneath my foundation and waited for it to completely absorb into my skin. Then I proceeded to apply my foundation like I normally would do had I actually used a primer or my beloved Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre! I have to say, although it did make my skin look revitalized and even gave my skin a demi-matte texture, I’m NOT loving it as a primer. However, I did notice a difference in my skin. It was more clearer than usual which was interesting! My theory on that is that….Men get ingrown hair bumps and pimples after they shave, so this was probably formulated to sooth bumps, ingrowns, and even out the skin tone from razor burn. Would I recommend this as a primer? Mmmmmmmmm……probably not. Do I think it’s hyped? Aaaaaaa-bsolutely! I didn’t make it through one-eighth of my day without getting shiny. It actually made my makeup separate on my skin…which NEVER happens cause I stay beat hunty! *flips hair*. I’d avoid it as a primer but I’d use it on my male clients for grooming at photoshoots. Works for some…not for me!
Thoughts? Have you tried the Nivea Men Post Shave? I hope your results were way better than mine lol
I bought the products mentioned with my own money.
