The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops

The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops
The Body Shop has added two new products to their makeup line that couldn’t have arrived at a perfect time for me. I recently got an awesome tan since my last visit to Rockaway beach in Queens last week. The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops are supposed to be a quick fix for when our skin tones change seasonally.

According to their website: Transform an “almost right” shade into your perfect one in just one drop with The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops. Lightening drop lightens and neutralizes yellowness, while the darkening drop darkens while keeping natural depth

For my friends with fairer skin, be very light handed when using the darkening drops. Also, try to be very light handed when using the Lightening drops! The lightening drops neutralize yellowness, so if you have a warm undertone it will make you look gray if used generously.

So I put it to the test…I used a random foundation from my freelance makeup kit. The foundation photographed below is MAC’s Match Master Foundation in shade 5.

It worked! I actually adjusted it to fit my shade!

It’s a GREAT product! It does just what it says. I have two issues. The first one being that it’s $20. This is how I decide if it’s worth it from all sides of the spectrum: Suppose you’re a college student and all you can afford are drug store foundations. Would it make sense to purchase a $20 product to change the color of your $9 foundation? Hmm, probably not.

My second issue is that if this product is used more than 2-3 drops, it WILL give you an off look. Using only 1 drop is all you need if you get a little tan. I’m not tripping over that because I can correct it by contouring. Oh! by the way!!!

It feels really nice on the skin. It smells so good! As I was dabbing it in with my beauty blender, I found myself dabbing for a few extra minutes because the scent was so pleasant. It wasn’t overbearing or anything 🙂

Cool fact: The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops are something you can definitely contour with!
