I never thought I’d see the day where you can buy MAC at ULTA!
You guessed it! MAC will be joining other Estee Lauder owned brands such as like BECCA, Smashbox, and Too Faced at ULTA Beauty!
This brought me back to the days when I used to work at Ulta. Customers would always come in asking for MAC. “Do you guys carry MAC?”…Or “When is there going to be a MAC at ULTA?” Fast forward to 2017 and here we are.
I can’t be the only one this came as a shock to. I was surprised because MAC has always known to be bought at either a MAC store or department store. It will be an interesting adjustment to say the least. I also have many questions. How will this affect artistry and MAC’s current freelancers? Will freelancers be sent to ULTA stores as well?
I think this is also a VERY good look for the Ulta brand as well. I just hope ULTA doesn’t go hollywood and continues to have their awesome weekly sales 😉
So let’s discuss WHY…
Why is MAC Cosmetics going to be at ULTA? According to WWD, MAC Cosmetics is betting that it has found at least a partial solution to the sales slowdown it is suffering as traffic thins out in America’s malls and department stores.
MAC is planning to enter at last, first via the beauty specialty store’s e-commerce platform ulta.com in May and then via about 25 stores in June. By the end of the year, MAC is expected to be in more than 100 Ulta stores, according to Karen Buglisi Weiler, MAC global brand president. “By mid-June we should have the first one opened,” she said.”
I’m interested in seeing how this goes! I think it’s dope for both companies and they will benefit greatly from their unique demographics.
Are you excited?
