Viola Davis: First Woman to Win an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, Golden Globe, SAG & BAFTA for Acting

History AND Black History was made last night at the 2017 Oscars. Slayed to the melanin gawds in her Armani Privé vermillion red silk gown, Viola Davis is the first black woman to Win an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony.  This is a HUGE deal. Not only is Viola Davis the most nominated Black actress in history, but she’s also the first black woman to pick up the “Triple Crown” of acting.

She also spoke movingly about her decision to become an actor:

“People ask me all the time, ‘What kind of stories do you want to tell, Viola?’ And I say, ‘Exhume those bodies. Exhume those stories — the stories of the people who dreamed big, and never saw those dreams to fruition. People who fell in love and lost. I became an artist and thank God I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.” she said.

Whew! When I heard that, all I could remember doing was being moved to tears of joy! Congratulations Viola Davis, you deserve it!

I also want to add that her makeup artist, got it RIGHT. I couldn’t stop staring at Viola’s makeup all night. The paint was a job well done!
